14/08/16- Graphics upgrades for the future!

Hey guys

I've been steadily doing upgrades on my PC over the course of a few months most recently being my watercooling loop and motherboard. I upgraded my Asus A88xm-plus board to the Crossblade Ranger I denoted in my specs entry. This was mostly for aesthetics but also to give me better options in relation to my graphics setup which is what this post is about.

Now since I can't even begin to afford anything at the top of of Nividia I have a couple of options that I'm gunna go over. I have an idea of what I'm gunna do but this post is to go through my thinking processes in deciding.

Option 1- I add a second Sapphire Nitro 380x to my current one to get better performance out of a crossfire config. This is a good option since it will only cost the small price of the new card which could be even less if I find one second hand. However the drawbacks are that these cards from what I can see are not readily available anymore and finding one that's not over priced to buy brand new is difficult. Alternatively I could get another board partners model but that would be an absolute last resort because of aesthetics.

Option 2- Spend a little more and get an RX480- This is a good option especially looking at performance reviews of the card but the drawbacks for me are finding the money to spend. That would take time as I have other things that are more important. That being said I could sell my 380x to help fund it but that would leave me without a card for a period. Also I want to do a multi GPU setup for my personal rig.

At the moment I am leaning towards option 1 because it makes more sense at this point in time but at the same time I would love to work with a 480 and how it performs. For now I'm gunna keep an eye out for 380x's while I save and go from there. But hopefully in the near future I can do a video on my GPU upgrade and whatever else comes along in the mean time.

Cheers again I know this is all pretty boring stuff but I hope to improve my content over the coming weeks.

14/08/16- Tech difficulties

Whats up

So In a previous post I said my first gameplay would be uploaded yesterday. Due to my late arrival home I had planned to upload it this morning before I head to work however I have encounter yet another issue that prevents be from uploading today. I have the files ready to go however they wont drop into Vegas which probably means a re conversion. All of this takes time which is fine but means my Youtube schedule is gunna be pushed back probably until Thursday now depending on what time I have before work over the following days.

I hate to have a bad start but I am going to continue posting entries here and obviously I will get the video linked as soon as it is ready to go. Sorry about the confusion I'm still getting used to all of this.

Anyway this was just an impromptu update. I have some more stuff to blog today so stay tuned if you want.

Cheers

13/08/16- Today's PC fixing

Hey guys whats up.

So today was the day I finally got around to sorting out the PC that has been sitting in my room for the best part of the last two and a half weeks. The PC belongs to a family members relation and has been on my to do list for way to long.

Anyway so some background. I had this computer a while back as issues were being had that resulted in me having to wipe and do a fresh install of windows. Pretty simple stuff. I don't actually recall the reason behind the fresh install I just know that's what it took to fix it. Fast forward to present day and the owner is no longer able to login. repeatedly receiving a User unable to logon error message. After a quick search I learnt that the user file was corrupted.

Having never dealt with this I googled some sites which were very helpful in fixing this issue however I will be doing a follow up to this post probably tomorrow explaining the how-to of it in detail. But in short it involved messing with some naming and values in the registry file while in safe mode in order to get that fixed up. The PC will be returning soon and hopefully it will be the last I see of it. However I'm not sure that will be true.

But if you are interested in the full breakdown of how I got things sorted I'm gunna make a post with pictures explaining that in over the next few days so stay tuned for that. I was hoping for that to be this post but we ended up being out to late playing pokemon for me to get a properly detailed how-to with pictures but it will happen.

But that's it I'm afraid my tech adventures for today were not incredible but I have a fair few ideas for later entries so I'll keep posting daily

Cheers

12/08/16- Gameplay schedule on Youtube!

Last post for today.

So as I said in my first entry a large part of my Youtube channel will be part by part gaming videos. So on that note there will be a weekly video covering a game in episodes. My plan is to have two games on the go and rotate them weekly until one is completed and then the next game will be started. I still have some things to figure out relating to how exactly this is going to run with reviews and other videos being posted on the channel however this is how content will run on the channel for the foreseeable future starting tomorrow where I will be uploading part one of my play through of Mass Effect 3.

So choice of games.
As I said I'm starting out with Mass Effect 3. Yes it is an older game but that is partly why I chose it. I am hoping to cover an old and a new game at the same time. Also I have been meaning to re play through ME3 for a while now.

Aside from ME3 which will upload tomorrow I have several other games in mind to do plays of and the list is ever expanding. Some of the story based games I am planning to play are:

Mirrors Edge Catalyst
Doom
Metal Gear Solid V
Bioshock Trilogy

But it wont just be story based games obviously, I will be playing a number of online multiplayers which will include some first time plays and a few MMORPG's. Some of these include:

ESO
Guild Wars
LOL
DOTA 2
Blacklight

Depending on how things go I may look into streaming but I'll post about that if it becomes a possibility in the future.

Cheers

12/08/16- PC specs

Hey guys

Since I've just started posting I wanted to do a entry denoting my specs for a couple of reasons. Firstly its a tech blog and it would be cool to show you all what I'm running since I hope to attract fellow PC people and secondly it gives me a point of comparison for the future so I can see how far my upgrades take me. So without further adieu my PC specs are as follows.

Peripherals

For my mouse I use a Razer Deathadder which sits upon the Razer Firefly mouse pad. Then I have a Corsair Strafe RGB with cherry MX silent switches which sits on top of the Steelseries extended mouse mat. I am currently using as 2 monitor setup which consists of a Iiyama Prolite 22" and a LG Flatron 19". However I will be adding an AOC 23" IPS panel in the near future which I plan to do a review on.

So there you have it, that is my current setup. I will be doing posts related to all the upgrades I do as I have a few things planned for this rig yet and I will have some reviews of some of the components I use coming in the near future so keep an eye out for those

Cheers

12/08/16- An introduction.

Whats up guys

So this is my first time writing a blog or writing anything really so I thought I'd do a quick introduction and overview of what this is gunna be all about.

My name is Dave and I'm a tech enthusiast. Primarily I am a computer tech nerd. Which is what a large portion of this blog will be about. However I will also be looking at a lot of other tech ranging from laptops to phones to power banks and beyond.

So how is this gunna work? Well here on my blog I'm going to be posting daily about tech related things in my life for example quite frequently I am charged with fixing computer for family members. That will be documented here with pictures. But also here on the daily blog you can expect to see how to's, Q&A's, Points for discussion, talk of new releases and whatever else comes up on a daily basis. Here I will also keep things up to date with whats going of with the other side of things.

The other side of things will me my Youtube Channel. (Which i will get linked somewhere) On the channel I will be uploading weekly videos and on occasion 2 per week. On this medium I will be covering the more bulky of my tech adventures. So there you can expect to find game plays (more about that later) reviews, build logs and ongoing upgrade projects. With relation to that I will post a link here for each new upload so its easy to keep up with the schedule.

Anyway I think that just about covers everything for now.  I hope you guys will enjoy reading about my antics and of course thank you for giving this a read.

Dave
